From San Francisco to Los Angeles

California offers some of the world’s most spectacular sights and best spots for vacations. From the Golden Gate to Tinsel Town this motor coach tour itinerary includes must see places along the Big Sur coast on the Pacific. You can choose just the three day tour along the coast or combine it with hotels and tours in San Francisco and/or Los Angeles to make it a 5 or 7 day package vacation. Tours in San Francisco, to Monterey, along the Big Sur, to Hearst Castle and in Los Angeles are on a full size or smaller bus with a driver guide . From San Luis Obispo to Los Angeles you travel by AMTRAK Coast Starlight. The train has vista dome car for sightseeing and a dining car for meals.
San Francisco Riesling

Day 1: (D) San Francisco. Check in for two nights at Handlery Union Square Hotel or Tuscan Inn Fisherman’s Wharf (** Handlery Hotel stay includes full breakfast. Tuscan Inn does not. Other hotels in San Francisco also available). Afternoon free for exploring the city, Fisherman’s Wharf or riding cable cars, etc. Dinner tonight or tomorrow night at a local Italian Restaurant.
Day 2: (B) 11 hour Wine Country tour (W) or City Tour with Muir Woods (CM) 7 hours. Alcatraz tour arranged on request. Pick up from the hotel at 8:30 a.m. for either tour. If going to Sonoma and Napa Valley Wine Country tour cross the Golden Gate Bridge, visit the historic square in Sonoma. Time for lunch on your own. Then to Napa Valley. Visit two or three wineries. Return to the city via Oakland Bay Bridge. Instead of wine country take the city tour for 3 ˝ hours, break for lunch and then Muir Woods with Sausalito for 3 ˝ hours.
3 days California Coast Cypress Big Sur Tour
Day 3: (B) (D) Leave San Francisco around 9:00 a.m. Driving south along San Andreas Fault to miles of artichoke and strawberry fields by the Monterey Bay, home of Fort Ord where armed forces once trained now students prepare for their future at University of California. Going through Monterey we stop at Cannery Row around lunch time and optional visit of the world renown Monterey Bay Aquarium. Stops are made at *Pacific Grove *17 Mile Drive and *Pebble Beach. Visit *Carmel by the Sea for about an hour.
Check-in to the hotel by 5:30 p.m. Bay Park Hotel, Monterey.
Dinner and Breakfast
Day 4: (B) Monterey to San Luis Obispo. 135 miles. Driving south on Big Sur Highway One to Bixby Bridge we continue to Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park to see the Giant Coastal Redwoods. Along one of the most scenic highways in the world stops are made at scenic turnouts to see the mighty Pacific crashing on the cliffs. *Scenic Highway One *Big Sur Redwoods. At San Simeon Tour Hearst Castle and see the movie “Building the Dream”. Built by Julia Morgan during the 1920s and 1930s for the art collection of world famous newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst this 2 hour tour is ideal for first time visitors with an easy walk, a total of about 150 steps. Via coastal villages and Morro Bay we reach San Luis Obispo at about 4:30.
Check in for the night at Apple Farm Inn. 
Day 5: San Luis Obispo to Los Angeles. 220 miles train. Morning free or optional 4 hour tour by The Wine Wrangler (805 238 5700) to visit 3 wineries. Board The Coast Starlight at 3:20p.m. *(Alternate time see below). Via Pismo Beach to Pt. Arguello through restricted Vandenberg Air Force Base see launch pads for the space rockets and then some of the most scenic ocean views all the way through Santa Barbara to Oxnard. Turning inland around seven the train goes past miles of orange groves then through Simi Valley to Glendale. At about 9:00 we arrive in the heart of the great metropolis of Los Angeles at the Union Station that you may recognize from many Hollywood films.
L.A. Bustle and Stars
Day 5: Evening: From the Union Station take a 5 minutes taxi ride to Miyako Inn Los Angeles Downtown. Spend 2 nights at this comfortable hotel.
Day 6: Grand tour of Los Angeles & Movie Stars’ Home (about 8 hours). See Hollywood sign, Rodeo Drive, Melrose, Sunset Strip, Farmers Market, Olvera Street, Chinatown, The Music Center and the Griffith Park Observatory and Movie Stars' Homes in Beverly Hills and Bel Air.
Day 7: Transfer to Los Angeles International Airport.
