California Parlor Car Tours, a San Francisco based company has operated quality motor coach tours since 1924 - going over highways to places where trains cannot go and driving is best left to locals who know. Tours along the California coast include a segment on the train through Santa Barbara coastal area and the restricted area of Vandenberg Air Force Base where space rockets are launched. Carefully planned trips of one to seven days, well chosen meal stops, essential sightseeing, tours, admission tickets and rooms at very good hotels and train tickets as needed are prearranged. Combine day trips in San Francisco and Los Angeles with a night or two on the California coast to create a customized vacation. Tour operators offer many itineraries. Yosemite National Park – As the winter had very little snow this summer the waterfalls are light and you see the granite rock formations otherwise not seen until later in the year. Rooms are available at Yosemite View Lodge in El Portal at the Arch Rock Entrance, 14 miles west of the Valley. Transportation between Yosemite Valley and Yosemite View Lodge in El Portal by YARTS bus is included in the tour cost, takes about 25 minutes. This winter with the El Nino weather system heavy snows are expected resulting in full waterfalls. For 2015 rooms inside Yosemite Valley should be booked as soon as possible. Most dates up to end of September 2014 are sold out. Please secure your reservations now with a minimum deposit even for winter or next year to stay inside Yosemite Valley at The Yosemite Lodge at the Falls or at The Ahwahnee Hotel. YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK IS OPEN!!
There are many small hotels and hostels with reasonable rates close to our office in the Union Square area on Post, Sutter and Bush Street near the cable car line and local bus lines. This is a nice safe and secure area with many shops, internet cafes and small restaurants. Please let us know the dates you want and the approximate rate you expect to pay.
